Sharing, Caring & Learning Together

A partnership with parents

“Parents are children’s first and most enduring educators. When parents and practitioners work together in early years settings, the results have a positive impact on children’s learning”

At Chalvey Nursery we foster a positive partnership with parents.

Every child comes into nursery with a variety of experiences, skills and knowledge which we encourage parents to share with us. We value what you as parents have to say about your child so we can plan appropriate play based learning opportunities. Through two way communication, we can work together to support and enhance the development of the children. We regularly inform parents about forthcoming events through newsletters, coffee mornings and notices. Parents are always welcome to come and talk to us about things. We are happy to help.

Parent Workshops

Every term a Nursery Teacher runs an interactive workshop for parents on different topics related to children's learning.

The workshops aim to:-

Help parents to develop an understanding of how young children learn                                                                   Provide suggestions and ideas o how parents can support their child's learning at home                                     Participate in activities we do at nursery with their children                                                                               Highlight the importance of learning through play                                                                                                   Enable opportunities to ask questions and discuss issues related to children's learning with the member of staff as well as other parents

Parents workshops take place during session times and are for a limited number of adults. Keep a lookout for posters and leaflets for upcoming workshops and please sign up for them in the school office.
