    Chalvey Nursery School

Absences
It is expected that your child attends nursery every day. If your child cannot attend due to illness, appointment etc. please inform the school office as soon as possible. Please note that if your child has suffered from diarrhoea and/or vomiting, please keep them away from the nursery 48 hours (2 days) from the last episode of diarrhoea/vomiting.

Collection of your Child
If your child is to be collected by someone other than yourself, it is very important that you inform the teacher or school office. (Please remember your child cannot be accompanied to and from the nursery by a person under the age of 16).

Change of Address & Telephone Numbers
Please inform the school office of your new address and telephone numbers. It is vital that we have updated numbers in case of an emergency and we use a texting service to provide parents with up to date information.

Disabled Access
There is access on one level throughout the nursery. Electronic entry system provides a high level of security for all children, including those who have a limited sense of danger. The nursery has three disabled toilets and there are nappy changing facilities in each area and a shower unit in the Assessment Unit.

Term Time Leave
You may request leave for your child. If your child is absent for more than 2 weeks during term time, this leave will be recorded as unauthorised. If your child is absent for more than 20 days his/her name may be removed from the school roll. You may re-apply for a place and your child’s name will be placed on the waiting list until a place becomes available.

Home Visits
A home visit allows your child to build a relationship in their home environment with the key workers. It is essential for the second or third child as it is for the first child in the family. During this visit they will gain your child’s confidence and be a familiar face when they come into the nursery. It also gives you the opportunity to discuss anything you wish to know about our nursery or your child in the comfort of your home.

Medicine in School
A request for school to give medication form has to be completed. Medication will not be accepted unless it has been prescribed by the family doctor and is clearly labelled indicating the contents, dosage and child’s full name.

Newsletters
Newsletters are sent out regularly to all parents. Please can you ensure you read these as they contain important information.

No Smoking
No smoking please on the premises

Phone Policy
No mobile phones are to be used in the Nursery/Family Room We appreciate there may be occasions where you may need to use your phone and ask that you use it in the parents area (Corridor next to the School Office).

Settling your Child in Nursey
Our children start at staggered times to let key workers give new children as much individual attention as possible. We are always flexible about the time you stay with your child in settling them into nursery. Your child’s key worker will liaise with you to let you know the length of time your child will stay each day until he/she is ready to attend a full session.
